• Escudero Fighting for Pride
"More enduringly than any other sport, wrestling teaches self-control and pride. Some have wrestled without great skill - none have wrestled without pride." - Dan GableIt was his pride that initially stopped him from tapping. Under two minutes into the third round, he was caught in a deep armbar by fellow UFC lightweight Evan Dunham. As his opponen […]
  • Dunham: Changing of the Guard?
When Evan Dunham first stepped into the Octagon at UFC 95 against Per Eklund, it would have come off as a fool’s notion to think that just a year-and-a-half later the up-and-comer would be talking about Sean Sherk as a worthy opponent for him. It’s nothing cocky, it’s just the nature of mixed martial arts—put together a four-fight winning streak in the UFC e […]

  • Steve Lopez, Take Two
Steve Lopez’s left arm felt like a piece of saltwater taffy.  Sitting backstage at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, the UFC’s newest lightweight silently suffered while doctors worked to find the best angle for repairing his dislocated shoulder.  The first try didn’t take, so they gave it another shot, stretching and pulling the limb in every directio […]
  • From The Mouth of Mir
On his motorcycle accident “Because it was a clean break, I was told that I could come back and still play ‘full contact sports’ – as the doctor said it.  I don’t think he realized the extent of it. (Laughs)  But he got the point that I needed to be able to take a really hard shot from really crazy and stupid angles.  That was what I asked him.  ‘It’s not re […]

  • ozboz48:

It’s a combat expression, a store and a reality tv show. Google it.

    All the best.

  • Jenna:

I know the term TAPOUT from wrestling. When you’re in pain or want to quit you TAP the mat and the fight ends. Coining the term TapouT. It’s not a tv show and a clothing line and who knows what else. I think when one uses the the term TAPOUT they’re saying like oh i’m better than you so “tapout.” figuratively. Does that make any sense?

Oh, and when text messaging you can have a “signature.” Which is a word or nickname or something of the sort that your phone automatically puts at the end of every message that you send. That’s probably his signature and was irrelevant to the text he was sending.

  • Smokies Hiker:

TAPOUT is, among other expressions, a mixed martial arts match inside a five sided “wrestling” ring. When one of the contenders decides he’s had enough, he “taps” the floor or the other person to let the referee know he’s conceding the match. Thus the term “TAPOUT”. The term TAPOUT means that you have “given up” or conceded to an opponent. In the case you’re speaking of with your 16 year olds cell phone, I believe that he’s conceding to you! You’ve won!

  • Geekgirl:

Its like the name of a big wrestling thing (in wrestling you “tapout”) nothing bad, dont worry.

  • #2 on the way 06/7/10:

Its a wrestling Expression for giving into a submission move (leg locks etc..).
Its also a clothing line made popular by the UFC (Ultimate fighting championship).

  • Chloe:

Do you really think it’s right to be reading his text messages? Confiscate his phone, sure. But there’s no need to invade privacy.

why yes i do believe it is right to read the texts of a 16 yr old child who is living in my house. invade privacy? they will have privacy when they move out and pay bills. i will read any and all texts and emails sent to and from my daughter as she is my child and i don’t want her on drugs or off having sex with random people getting STD’ s and or pregnant. read all the texts you want mom. high five! but it almost seems like he knew someone was going to take his phone and to not say anything because he isn’t the one saying whatever was going to come across the screen again until he puts in another word that lets the other person know it is him again. i would find out if there is a way to archive the texts with your cell company and see what is being said and to whom. good luck.
